Carousel Horses on Silk Charmeuse Scarf

Wow! It is HOT here in N.C. today being over 100 outside on June 29, 2012!! My central air unit went out in my studio and I have so much work to complete that I decided to brave the heat after dark because the thermometer was reading in the 90’s during the day and it has dropped to a bearable 89…in the dark! When I turn on my lights to see what I am working on, the heat coming off the lights becomes way too hot. I have fans going and hopefully, opening windows will allow the heat to escape enough to try again.

I am so excited about my newest silk scarf project! It is Carousel Horses on an 11 x 60 Silk Charmeuse Scarf. I have to admit that this is an addiction! I want to get this scarf done so I can place it on eBay and watch the bidding!

Hudson River School Inspired Work In Progress Study

Oil Painting On 24" x 48" Canvas

This is my current Work In Progress which is inspired by the Hudson River School artists of the past. According to Wikipedia the Hudson River School landscape paintings are known for their realistic detail and sometimes idealized portrayal of nature, In general, Hudson River School artists believed that nature in the form of the American landscape was an ineffable manifestation of God, though the artists varied in the depth of their religious conviction. I love Art and my goal is to have my work look as good close up as it does far away, as a matter of fact I want people to be drawn into it and want to get as close as possible to catch every little detail both painted purposely and imagined. My Collectors appreciate the attention to detail within my works. I want to capture the beauty of my North Carolina State Landscape and the serenity of nature of the imagined past and the present. Unlike The Hudson River School paintings that leaned towards the Landscape being the primary theme and animals/people very small in comparison, I want the landscape to share the attention of the viewer with the animals/people and sometimes even be secondary. In other words, I am attempting to take an Art Movement (Which I admire) and in my own way bring it into our present time.
